Where Platinum Express Meets the Track
Platinum Express has a need for speed, too. Platinum Motorsports is our race team, bringing the same competitive spirit that drives us in trucking to the stock car track. Over the years, the team has competed throughout the Midwest, including the CRA JEGS All-Star Series, ARCA/CRA Super Series, and major local events at Columbus Motor Speedway.
In 2015, Platinum Motorsports campaigned Hamke Chassis Late Models with veteran drivers Bill Burba and Mike Stacy behind the wheel. The team put together a strong season, with Stacy earning top finishes in the CRA JEGS All-Star Series and Burba making an impressive debut with a brand-new chassis at Columbus Motor Speedway.
But a race team is about more than what happens behind the wheel. Veteran crew chief Marc Metz led a dedicated crew that included Zach Stacy, Darin Current, Luke Current, Landon Hallam, and Paul Tobin, with Myna and Dave Burba providing the support that helped bring the entire operation together.
Today, this page is a look back at the people, cars, and racing moments that have been part of the Platinum Motorsports story.

Behind the Wheel of Platinum Motorsports

\\OUR DRIVERS
Bill Burba
Bill Burba spent 12 years racing motocross before switching from two wheels to four. During his motocross career, he worked his way up to an “A” rider and collected several track and state championships. In 2004, he traded the dirt bike for a stock car and began racing in the Pure Stock division at Kil-Kare Speedway.
Bill quickly proved he could make the transition. He earned three victories and Rookie of the Year honors in his first season, then moved into Kil-Kare’s competitive Late Model division in 2005. He picked up another feature win that year and finished seventh in the overall points championship. In 2006, he finished third in points with one win, six top-five finishes, and 13 top-10 finishes in 14 starts.
Bill spent the next several years competing with the Main Event Racing Series while continuing to race locally. In 2008, he moved into the Open Wheel Modified division, where he found plenty of success, collecting multiple fast-qualifier awards and 18 feature wins across several tracks between 2008 and 2013.
After a serious crash at Winchester Speedway ended the 2013 season, Bill returned to Late Model racing in 2014. He came back strong, setting a fast time and winning the feature in his first race of the season at Kil-Kare Speedway. He went on to record five wins that year, including the Robbie Dean Memorial at Shadybowl Speedway, along with a runner-up finish in the Shatto Memorial 110 and a third-place finish in the Nuckles Memorial at Columbus Motor Speedway. He also recorded seven fast-qualifier awards and an average finish of 4.2 in the special events he competed in that season.
In 2015, Bill took the wheel of the No. 26 Platinum Express Late Model, competing in the CRA/JEGS All-Star Series, ARCA/CRA Super Series, and select local events.

Mike Stacy
Mike Stacy is a racing veteran in every sense of the word. He started racing at just 16 years old while still in high school and has spent his career competing in an impressive range of stock cars, including Mini Stocks, ARCA Pro Fours, Late Models, Open Wheel Modifieds, Outlaw Late Models, ARCA Super Cars, and Hooter Cup Cars. With years spent racing throughout the Midwest, there aren’t many tracks Mike hasn’t seen from behind the wheel.
Wins have followed Mike through nearly every division he has competed in. He has captured track championships at both Kil-Kare Speedway and Columbus Motor Speedway in the Premier Late Model divisions, an ARCA Pro-4 championship, and a Speed Weeks championship at New Smyrna Speedway in Florida.
His career includes an equally impressive list of special-event victories, including the Dayton 100, the John Nuckles Memorial twice, the Robbie Dean Memorial, the “Run for the Gun” Top Speed Modified Series race at Winchester Speedway, and the Kalamazoo Clash at Kalamazoo Speedway. He has also won the Pro-4 portion of the Historic Snowball Derby and the Labor Day Weekend Stock Car Festival at Winchester Speedway an incredible seven times.
One of Mike’s most memorable accomplishments came in the “Mac Attack Challenge,” where the previous week’s Late Model winner could choose to start at the back of the field for a chance at an additional victory and bonus. Mike was the only driver to successfully complete the challenge.
With pole awards, track records, and 219 feature wins already on his résumé, Mike has built a career that speaks for itself. His time behind the wheel of the Platinum Express No. 26 added another chapter to an already remarkable racing career.
